newsfeed and inews question

I've got inn working fine and I'm just trying to figure out how to push my
posted articles up to the upstream news server.  

I've tried to "telnet news.... 119" and run the ihave command but I get the
message:

        500 Syntax Error or Unknown Command

I'm assuming this is because I'm not in the hosts.nntp file and therefore I
can't upload through that method.  I do seem to be able to post to the 
remote server through inews and the messages arrive correctly.  I haven't
been able to find anything talking about this (but I may have the wording
incorrect) - is there any kind of entry I can put in nntpfeeds that will upload
my locally posted articles through the inews program?

If it matters I'm running inews 2.2.2 under Linux.
