Why, yes, you probably are.

Most specifically, you are probably missing the trailing dot in your
domain name in your zone file.

Some folks have a "sig_named restart", some folks have to do a
"ps" to find out named's PID, the do a "kill -mumble [named's PID], where
"mumble" is an actual digit or symbolic name -- see you local man pages
for details.
