Forwarding "all-other" zones

is this really working?
I tried the same scenario w/ BIND 8.2.1 on a Linux
box and got no delegation to the subdomains.
It does work if you configure a "type forward"
xyz.com zone forwarding to another nameserver
(master for xyz.com) to do delegation.
It would be much easier to have this all in one
nameserver.
