bind 8 and leased line

Hello,

I recently went from bind 4 to 8 and this beast pulls up my leased line
to my provider approx. 4 times per hour. With snoop I found that there
are requests going out to different places all over the world (which are
not in my root.ca file...).

Why?
How to increase that time?
Or even do *NO* requests or updates without an application like netscape
is requesting something?

Apoligizes if this is a FAQ...but where are FAQ lists for BIND 8 (on
Solaris 7)?
