hi:

already have a working entry for (example) secured-name.com (created by
previous admin) and trying to create one for secured-names.com. there are
discrepancies. the working entry looks like this:

www.secured-name.com

secured-name.com SOA ns1.domain.com, user.domain.com
secured-name.com NS ns1.domain.com
secured-name.com A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
www A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

the site i'm trying to create entries for is
www.secured-names.com (simply pluralized)

what i have showing is:

secured-names.com SOA ns1.domain.com, user.domain.com
secured-names.com NS ns1.domain.com
secured-names A xx.xxx.xxx.xxx
www A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

note the key difference that theone that works has the added ".com" in its
first AA record. don't know how to add that. if i try to add another
A-record, it won't allow the ".com" as part of the host name.

clarification: when i say "works," what i mean is the first one can be
resolved in Internet Explorer by typing in either
http://www.secured-name.com or http://secured-name.com while the 2nd one can
only be resolved by typing in http://www.secured-names.com and bombs without
the www piece.

interestingly, netscape can resolve http://secured-names.com just fine, but
i guess that's neither here nor there.

i'm thinking that i created the new domain (zone, whatever) incorrectly.

any ideas?

(i'm dying here)
