Obviously, not everyone in the mailing list/newsgroup/forum has Barry's
attitude.

Also obviously, not everyone who idly [or franticly] enters a query in
the newsgroup knows that newsgroups are automatically archived and
searchable, or that this particular newsgroup is also an archived
mailing list, via the magic of gateways.  So, to be kind, you can look
at Barry's grumbles as attempts to educate people.

It has been noted many times, though, that these days there are
instances where people ask in newsgroups and mailing lists before
looking in easily available reference materials - search engines, FAQs,
archives, on-line help, and even [;-)] books.  It is also arguable that
the reverse order might be (a) a better use of time and (b) a good way
to enhance one's personal knowledge of the system in question.

So ... don't take it personally.  ;-)
