CNAME for NS?

Hi all. Can I use CNAME's for my NS records? I want to use ns1, ns2 etc
as CNAME's for my DNS servers but I was not sure whether the CNAME was a
valid target for the NS record. If this is RFC feel free to chastise me
and correct my ignorance ... I looked but could not find an answer.
