That depends upon a couple of things.

1) How dynamic is your IP. I use MediaOne/RR in eastern MA and our IP
is dynamic. I has changed twice in 2 years. First they did a network
restructring, changed from 24.128.x.x to 24.218.x.x. Second time my NIC
failed and they gave me a new IP. A friend on a smaller local provider
gets a different IP every couple of months.

2) How important is what you are hosting??

I use GraniteCanyon as my secondary and host a hidden primary here.
Can't be published cause I don't have authority in the IP range to
register a name server with InterNIC. Recently I have started to us
RealDNS as a backup, but they have different problems than
GraniteCanyon. I host a family web page and web pages for some FreeBSD
software. Also pages for my church. None are critical enought that I
can't wait a couple of hours if my IP gets changed.

Hopefully this has helped.

Jim.

Unix is very user-friendly. It's just picky who its friends are.
