Not quite. Maybe there's an ambiguity about the meaning of "flush"
when it's translated into French? [Je ne connais pas, ma Francaise est
trop mal.] The dumpdb command of ndc writes an ASCII version of the
cache to a file. In English, most people use the term "flush" to mean
"discard". Dumping the cache to a file with ndc doesn't get rid of the
data that's in the name server's cache. I suspect that's what the
original poster wanted to do. If so, the only way to do that with BIND
is to restart the server.
