I've now found the answer to this in the mailing list archives. Maybe a FAQ posting would be useful, at least pointing us to the archives and to the fact that it's a gatewayed mailing list. I'd have normally found this sort of thing on Deja, but it appears to be having trouble, and no-one else seems to archive Usenet :-( Ian
