Don't you mean YYYYMMDDHH
not YYYYMMDDss?

Using the one you suggest would
be essentially random during the
course of the day.

YYYYMMDDHH is used by the Macintosh
DNS server (I don't know which one)
but it was primary for my domains
till I got a hold of them on my
bind 8.

The problem I have with YYYYMMDDHH
is not that it doesn't work, is
that it doesn't distinguish within
the hour.
