Although in a slightly different context, the basic principle behind this -- a
CNAME owner can't be the owner of any other records -- is described in
_DNS_and_BIND_, 3rd Edition, pages 373-374, "CNAMEs Attached to Interior
Nodes".

Or, were you referring to a different book?
