8.2.2-P5 and logfile rotation

In my /etc/named.conf i have

channel my_channel {
    file "/tmp/logfile" versions 4;
    severity info;
    print-time yes;
};

In earlier versions of bind /tmp/logfile would roll over everytime I issued a 
'ndc reload' or 'ndc restart'. After one of the upgrades (I don't remember
which) this file rotation stopped.

I guess this has something to do with

762.   [support]       don't rotate log file versions on server startup.

but is there anything I can do to get the old behaviour back?
