Can DNS & POP3 on the same server?

I would use bind 8.2.1 and send mail 8.9.3 they seem to be stable.
To clarify the below this problem is happening on bind 8.2.2 P5 and send 
mail 8.10.1 currently.

I was unaware 8.8.8 had the same or similar problems, thanks for the info.
