No need to register.  Just use them.  But ...

Here's the trick.  You may NOT route traffic between the Internet and
the private internet addresses.  This has to be done by network address
translation [if you have more then one IP address, which you don't], or
by inserting a dual-hosted proxy server of some kind [www.fwtk.org
comes to mind] between your external blocking router and your private
internet.

DNS has nothing to do with it.  But you will need your own private DNS
in your private internet.

This is why you may not route traffic between Internet addresses and
private internet addresses.  ;-)
