Manually initiating a zone transfer

The only way to manually have the NT server initiate a zone transfer is to
restart the dns service. If you feel that the zones are not automatically
getting updated then you need to do something on the Master DNS server that is
equivalent to "notify the following servers" in the NT DNS configuration.

Subject: Manually initiating a zone transfer

Hello:

Quick question. How do I get an NT 4.0 box running DNS services to
initiate a zone transfer from its master on demand? Is there a log
file somewhere that will provide me info on when/if zone transfers
occured and why they might have failed?

I've got an NT DNS server that is not getting zone transfers from its
master at the configured intervals. It got an initial zone transfer
when I set it up as a secondary and keyed in the master's ip address so
I know the connectivity is there. I want to force it (my NT DNS
server) to initiate a zone transfer manually.

Thanks.
