When RFC 2317 started becoming popular about 3 years ago there were some
resolvers that didn't handle them well, and there were occasional posts in
the c.p.tcp-ip.domains newsgroup reporting trouble with reverse resolution.
The vendors sent out patches, and I haven't seen such a post in a long
time. So I think it's safe to say that much of the world is compliant;
if someone is still running ancient software that can't deal with it, it's
their problem.
