Constant DHCP Client Renewals Using ver 2.0 Server

Uh, it looks like your lease time is 10 days not zero.

My guess is the DHCPACKs are not being received or are being ignored. I have
seen NT4 clients ignore the frst two or three DHCPACKs. Is there some router
or relay agent in the network path?

-Hi All,
-
-Sorry if this is an old, or already well known, issue but I'm having issues with machines in a certain physical location re-issuing DHCP requests once a second. A typical entry in the dhcpd.leases file will show:
-
-lease 10.8.14.69 {
-	starts 2 2000/05/02 17:58:46;
-	ends 5 2000/05/12 17:58:46;
-	hardware ethernet 00:d0:b7:6b:4f:9a;
-	uid 01:00:d0:b7:6b:4f:9a;
-	client-hostname "SJ108319";
-}
-
-Notice the start and end time for the lease is the same. Messages from using the -d flag from the server will show an appropriate DHCPREQUEST and DHCPACK statement for each request from the client and the server's response. The same server is also serving several other subnets with no such issues, and has been working fine for the past couple of months.
-
-Our software configuration is the following:
-
-Solaris 2.6
-DHCP Server 2.0
-Using sockets instead of DLPI due to Solaris 2.6 issues
-default-lease-time 864000 (10 days)
-max-lease-time 864000 (10 days)
-
-The clients in question are Windows 2000 clients. We've tried a couple different machines on differents ports, but the same subnet.
-
-Why would the client define a lease time of zero seconds overriding the server? Is this a bug in the client or the server? If anyone knows the cause of this issue, any explanations/solutions would be *most* appreciated!
