multiple reverse lookups to one ip?

Hello

How are the DNS policies on having multiple canonical names, i.e. several
PTR records pointing to one ip-address. I know it's no problem to set it up,
but I would like to know how to control which PTR record is looked up as the
default one. Is it randomly chosen or is the first one encountered by the
DNS-query used per default?

Could you please reply directly to me, as I dont get to check news all that
often?

Thanks in advance
