Forwarders and delegations

The server will first look at the delegated zone if your query has a pointer to
that zone. Next it will query the forwarder.
i.e., if you have delegated a zone called *xyz.abc.com* to a server, and your
query is *hostname.xyz.abc.com*, you will go to the delegated zones server.

But if you simply give a query for *hostname* then it all depends on the search
list of your client from where the query is being made. If the search list has
the delegated domain's name it will go to the delegated zone's server.

Kali.

Subject: Forwarders and delegations

Hi there,

One thing i would like to clarify : When does bind start to use the "forwarders"
option? According to the documentation it's used when the server cannot find a
response. What does that mean?
Lets take a practical exemple:
- 1 server configured with the "forwarders" option
- on this server a zone file with a delegation to another server

If you ask the server for something in the delegated zone, will the server first
ask the delegated server or the forwarders?
