"relay" is just the *example* name of a host:

"In the following section, we'll explain briefly what each column means as we
look at the statistics for one of the hosts this server conversed with --
15.255.152.2 (relay.hp.com)." (Third Edition, page 169, parenthesized name
italicized in original).
