Retransmission timings for queries

Hello,

can anyone give me information about the exact timings when bind (bind
8.2.2p5) retransmits a UDP-Query to some other DNS server because it
didn't get any answer from there? I couldn't find any hints on this in the
documentation.

The point is that I am using a ppp link to my ISP with dial-on-demand, and
my ISP gives me a new dynamic IP address each time I call. So by
construction, the first packet which is going to bring up the ppp link
carries a wrong source address and is therfore as good as lost in most
cases (the new IP address is known only after the first packet was
generated and has brought up the line).

Now it happens quite often that bind's queries to other servers bring up
the line, but for my configuration, bind seems to wait exactly 1 minute
before it sends its query again (I use forward-only mode, with one forward
server configured).
