Of course. The zone transfer protocol hasn't changed. You might find
however that the BIND8 and BIND9 servers will reject the zones if they
contain errors that the BIND4 server tolerated or ignored. Likewise,
there could be stuff in the zones transferred from a BIND[89] server
that a BIND4 server doesn't like, such as new resource record types
that are not supported in BIND4.
