It's not that curious. There are a lot of broken name server
configurations in the world that just go to the first name/address in
the hints file. Some stub resolvers are pointed at a.root-servers.net
too! An amazing number of things batter that server for WINS names:
stub resolvers, name servers that don't do negative caching, etc,
etc. a.root-servers.net also gets hammered with dynamic update
requests from M$ boxes: A's hostmaster can plot the deployment of
Windows 2000 by the frequency of these update requests.
