TTL on glue records and PTR records

	You set a default TTL for all records in the zone with a $TTL 
directive at the top of the zone file.  For BIND 8, if you fail to 
use this directive, it will use the "negative" TTL (used to be the 
"minimum" TTL) field within the SOA record as the default TTL.

	However, you can always over-ride the default TTL with an 
explicit TTL for specific records.

	You are correct.  Make sure they match, just to try to help 
ensure that you avoid creating more serious problems in the future.
