Just to help you understand:

1) the Internet "requests for comments" (RFCs) - which are more tightly
binding than that mild name sounds - are the source of intrinsic
information on Internet protocols.

2) There is no BIND protocol. That's the name of the reference
protocol of the Domain Name Service (DNS) protocols. Some of the base
RFCs are

1034 Domain names - concepts and facilities. P.V. Mockapetris.
     Nov-01-1987. (Format: TXT=129180 bytes) (Obsoletes RFC0973, RFC0882,
     RFC0883) (Updated by RFC1101, RFC1183, RFC1348, RFC1876, RFC1982,
     RFC2065, RFC2181, RFC2308, RFC2535) (Also STD0013) (Status: STANDARD)

1035 Domain names - implementation and specification. P.V.
Mockapetris. Nov-01-1987. (Format: TXT=125626 bytes) (Obsoletes
     RFC0973, RFC0882, RFC0883) (Updated by RFC1101, RFC1183, RFC1348,
     RFC1876, RFC1982, RFC1995, RFC1996, RFC2065, RFC2136, RFC2181,
     RFC2137, RFC2308, RFC2535, RFC2845) (Also STD0013) (Status: STANDARD)

with specific updates by all of the above RFCs, plus specific
clarification by

2181 Clarifications to the DNS Specification. R. Elz, R. Bush. July
     1997. (Format: TXT=36989 bytes) (Updates RFC1034, RFC1035, RFC1123)
(Updated by RFC2535) (Status: PROPOSED STANDARD)

3) Some interesting sites to gather more information are:

Hope this helps. ;-) And that you don't think that this mailing list
is TOTALLY worthless, just because one of the people posting to it was
having a bad day. Sometimes, it DOES seem that there are a number of
people all asking the same question at once!
