	The error messages were from as complaining about the
	code the compiler handed it.  This is symptomatic of
	a broken (mismatched) compiler / assembler.

	Maybe, I loose track of which gcc version works with which
	OS release.

	Gcc is not supported because we don't test build with gcc
	when it is not the native (what we get from the OS vendor
	either with the OS or as a seperate product) compiler.  Gcc
	still *usually* works, however on some platforms gcc appears
	to generate bad code for threaded apps.
