Finding out which zone/rr is queried the most

Run a query log and parse the results.

But, I'm curious, in what way would you want to tune TTLs based on
popularity? If a particular name is popular, would you want to *raise* the
TTL, in order to conserve nameserver resources, or *lower* the TTL so that
if the site went down and the name needed to be re-pointed to a backup
machine, the change would be visible to the Internet more quickly? This is
the eternal tradeoff -- nameserver efficiency _versus_ speed of
change-propagation. Most folks just leave the TTL's the same for all RR's
(or at least for all RR's of a given type) in any given zone, unless they
happen to be preparing for an address change in the near future.
