Hmmm.
That's an idea.
I could modify the dhcpd code to "fix" the spaces before doing the
update.
It's already converting to "\032" .
It could just as easily have an option to convert those spaces to "-".
Off the top of my head, I can't think of any problems with this.
I guess one question would be whether to make that change in the lease
file client name or not.  Probably not -- only the dynamic name parts
    set ddns-rev-name
and set ddns-fwd-name
