how to compile on aix without gcc

So far what I've found is that if you want to use IBM compilers (I've used
vac 5.0.0.0 and 5.0.1.0) is you have to have gnu make.  Also, if you have
bos.adt.include 4.3.3.25 or lower your safe, but if it's higher than than
you'll need to add "#define HAVE_STRNDUP" to
src/port/aix4/include/port_after.h

That seems to be working for me so far...
