What ANSI complier works with BIND 9.x on Solaris?

I am trying to find a complier to use for creating the BIND 9.x binaries on
Solaris 2.6, 2.7, 2.8? 

Will gcc work or do I need the SUN "native" ANSI C complier ($$$) ???

Also, I would like to create the binaries that are "stand-alone" and do not
require any "shared libraries" to be installed on the production servers
running BIND. 

Simply put... I would like to create the BIND binaries and copy the named
files to the production servers when complete. 

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
