Actually Mark's answer is the very thing it is. RTFM.

A lame server is a server which is supposed to be authorative for a
zone, but does not answer quires about that zone authoratively.
Doesn't zones have to do with name resolution?

I think they do. At least, they do in my book. Perhaps you should read
yours?
