BIND9 & IPv6

Do you have

	options { listen-on-v6 { any; }; };

in your named.conf?

Besides, the document at ISI seems rather outdated - just for one, it
suggest running BIND 8.2.2-P5 because "it's the currently developed
code" and for "security reasons".

I'm also pretty sure you need to specify the -x flag to dig for it to
do a reverse lookup - at least that is the case with IPv4. Have you
tried this?

	$ dig -x 3ffe:80e8:120::1

I tried that and this is what I got (after a little bit of checking
which I'll spare other list members):

	$ dig @ns.surfnetconnexion.net. -x 3ffe:80e8:120::1
	;; Got answer:
	;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: FORMERR, id: 55407
	;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 0, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0

	;; Query time: 133 msec
	;; SERVER: 62.4.18.114#53(ns.surfnetconnexion.net.)
	;; WHEN: Fri Jun 22 20:28:39 2001
	;; MSG SIZE  rcvd: 12

I'm not used to IPv6 but hopefully someone here has a better answer
than I do. But I'd like to know - why FORMERR? That sounds like
"format error" to me. Doesn't dig understand IPv6 yet? (I'm running
BIND 9.1.2 with that dig, but don't have the IPv6 stuff on my system.)
