have you tried "infinite" lease time?

your class should chip in and buy at least one copy of the o´Reilly book, 
DNS & BIND 4th edition.

I bet if you go to www.google.com and search for allow-update, you´ll find 
a link to a tutorial or a good explanation.

also,http://www.isc.org/products/BIND/docs/config/zone.html  defines the 
syntax that enables zone updates.
