Error 404

I have a total of two DNS servers, one of them allows query and the other
one forwards to it.  The one that allow query is the same box that my TIS
proxy firewall software is running on.  Due to the fact that I don't have
reregistered domain name, why do I get an error 404 when trying to view a
web page.  I can however enter the IP address of the web page, and it works
find.

What am I doing wrong, or is their nothing that I can do.
