how do i redirect unknown subdomains?

hello,

please forgive me if this has been asked before.  i searched for this before i sent this email, but i have yet to find an answer.

say i have domain foo.com.  foo.com exists, and is a returning http content.

now, suppose a user enters bar.foo.com.  since there is no ip associated with that name, i want the user redirected to foo.com.  can that be done?  and if so, how?
