compiling and ./configure error

I got some new IBM xSeries servers and just installed the RedHat (7.1) OS
with no packages.

I am trying to compile bind 9.1.2 and on ./configure I get that it can not
detect host type.

I'm assuming it is because I need to add a package, but I do not know which
package helps determine the host type.
