Is There a Zone Management Tool Similar to Makezones?

--------
I want to clarify my original posting asking about dns
zone management tools. I am aware of the named-checkzone utility
which is part of the bind distribution and which validates the
zone one is about to load so what I am concerned with is whether
anyone has already written a tool that automatically writes the
reverse maps and updates the serial number. If none such exists,
I will write that in C and make it use named-checkzone to
validate the zone.

It seems that named-checkzone does not appear before
bind9 so such a utility will mainly be of use to bind9 users
since bind8 users could only generate their reverse maps and
update their serial numbers with this proposed tool.

I certainly hope that named-checkzone or something
equivalent continues to be apart of the bind distribution since
it lets one know exactly what will happen if this or that zone
which one has in a test file is run as the real thing. Since we
have always used makezones, I had all but forgotten about
named-checkzone when I wrote my first message and, of course,
thought of it after posting. It makes much more sense to
incorporate what is already here whenever possible rather than to
re-en vent the wheel and introduce new bugs.
