If the name server you are trying to set up is a host in
the domain you have registered through the OpenSRS system,
then you must register it with the OpenSRS system before
it will allow you to configure it as a name server for your
domain.

Log into your ISP's domain management interface, then
select the 'Name Servers' option from the menu. At the
very bottom of this page there should be a sentence that
says something like "If you want to create or modify a
nameserver which is based on scottsdomain.com click here."

Follow this link, and enter the hostname for your name
server in the boxes titled 'Create Name Server'. Once
you submit this data, the system will lookup the IP of
the server and verify its existence. Given that this
stacks up, the name server will then be usable for
domains registered through the OpenSRS system, and it
will accept the hostname when you enter it as a new
name server for your domain.

If your ISP has removed this link from their domain
management interface, you can make the necessary
changes by going to http://manage.opensrs.net/.

PS - Unless the nameserver is a host in a domain
registered at Network Solutions, registering your
name server with NetSol will not accomplish what you
are trying to do.
