I belive the hash sign (#) is not allowed in host names, and certainly
NOT as the only character.

At least Internet domain names are commonly composed of
([a-zA-Z0-9-]+\.)+ (letters, numbers and dashes, plus periods), so it
would seem reasonable to use the same character set on a LAN unless
you have any particular reason to do so.

If you absolutely need to use this, I belive you can use the
'check-names' option, but I am not sure. Take a look in your ARM.
