It just happens that I wish that people would search the archives
before posting. This has been asked probably a dozen times in the last
few months.

Putting a RR for mydain.org. into the zone mydomain.org obviously
gives you an out of zone data error; that aside you probably already
have RRs at the zone apex level so you'd get a "CNAME and other data"
error which is critical in BIND 9. (And oh, most likely you meant
'www.mydomain.org.'.)

Try:

	@ A 127.0.0.1
	www CNAME @

Assuming $ORIGIN is set correctly, of course.
