Problems with lookup

Your XP client is being denied recursive queries, probably by configuration. Take a look in your named.conf and see if you have either a recursion no or an allow-recursion statement. Then modify appropriately.

Subject: Problems with lookup

Hi All,

I am currently having trouble with Bind. I have bind running on
a
small server that does primary DNS for half dozen domains and also
acts as a caching server for a small LAN. Currently, I have a problem
with it looking about addresses for the LAN.

Whenever I do a nslookup from and XP client for the domain, I get the
following...

nslookup google.com
Server: ip-192-168-0-16.local
Address: 192.168.0.16

Name: google.com
Served by:
- E.GTLD-SERVERS.NET

          com
- F.GTLD-SERVERS.NET

          com
- G.GTLD-SERVERS.NET

          com
- H.GTLD-SERVERS.NET

          com
- I.GTLD-SERVERS.NET

          com
- J.GTLD-SERVERS.NET

          com
- K.GTLD-SERVERS.NET

          com
- L.GTLD-SERVERS.NET

          com
- M.GTLD-SERVERS.NET

          com
- A.GTLD-SERVERS.NET

          com

If I do a nslookup on the server itself, it looks it up fine.
Then if I retry the lookup on the client machine for that same
domain, it works...

So it basically only works if I do the lookup on the server itself
first...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
John
