reverse lookups

Whether the hosts are in the same network as the DNS servers is
irrelevant.  You need separate reverse zones for each /24 block (unless
you're lucky enough to have a class A or B network, in which case you could
conceivably put the entire reverse domain in a single zone, although I
don't recommend having such huge zones).
