$GENERATE and reverse zone delegations

Yes, you are right. Seems that I had a mind block of some kind. Damn.
Sometimes, I should RTFM myself... which I did then. I realised my error.

I took the example in the BIND book on page 237. Seems to be a typo.
But I am ashamed for taking a class for a type.
