We have had problems here with nodenames beginning with a numeric
character - some web pages (internal to ANL, I believe) were
inaccessible.  I believe that the desktops involved were either WNT or
W2k.  I am not a web administrator, and I have no other
details.  I usually will not register such a nodename unless I know
that it is a printer or networking gear, which would never have
a logged on user accessing the web.
