What is the SOA Refresh period for the forward domain? That's how often
the slave servers poll the master server, to see if the domain has changed
and needs to be transferred again.

If you're running BIND 8 or 9, the master should also use the NOTIFY
protocol to tell the slaves to transfer immediately. Make sure you list
all the slave servers in the domain's NS records; any that aren't in NS
records should be in the 'also-notify' list in the master's named.conf.

Of course, make sure you increment the serial number whenever you change
the zone.
