Sporadic Name Resolution -- Please Help

I'm running ISC Bind 8.3.4 on a SUN / Solaris 2.6 server. This is our
main and only external DNS server. Name resolution works for 99% of
the names I give it, but fails for specific names. For instance, if I
use nslookup, I can resolve almost anything... but a few specific
names continue to fail, like www.google.com , www.bankofamerica.com ,
www.officedepot.com , etc. I've only found a few so far, but they
consistently fail with the message...

ns1 can't find www.google.com: Non-existent host/domain

I am not the primary DNS admin. He's on vacation. In turn, I'm at my
wit's end after working on it all day. Any help would be appreciated.
