Have you checked the CHANGES file of a newer version of BIND (say 9.2.2) to see whether this is a known, fixed bug?

Bad 00 99:99:99.999 general: critical: stdtime.c:42: INSIST(tv.tv_usec >= 0
&& tv.tv_usec < 1000000) failed
Bad 00 99:99:99.999 general: critical: exiting (due to assertion failure)

Every week or so named keeps falling over on my server.
It's been running fine for over a year and has just suddenly started doing
this and the last thing in the log file is the above message..

At first I thought it was because of ntp but this has been disabled and it
still happens.

I'm running it on Solaris 8. As far as I'm aware it was compiled using the
gcc 2.95. but as I say it's been OK for over a year.
The message doesn't give much to go on, but I'm starting to think that
perhaps it's something in the way it's compiled.

Hopefully someone else has come accross this and can shed some mre light.

Thanks in advance.
