Out on the Internet (not your local machine) try
ping mydomain.com (even windows machines will ping)

If it returns your IP address in the ping echoes then the problem is
not a DNS one - It could de Apache configuration or any port
forwarding on your ADSL router. If the ping does not resolve it is a
DNS problem. The ping must be remote so you can split local resolution
from resolution out on the Internet.

PS if you have a no local resolution some routers prevent you creating
a loop out of your own ADSL link and back. This is a DOS precaution.
You should resolve the name internally to your web-server's address.

Unfortunately if you can not narrow down your problem in nice small
steps no-one is going to be able to give you an answer apart from :-

Read lots and understand it.

Problem - Not enough information to solve the problem lots of basic
nibbles needed to gain more info.
