Hi,

I have a question.

One of my sites are running a BIND 8.2.7 and got the following messages.

====== messages contents ===========
Jan 25 16:41:59 nsr16 named[22338]: stream_getlen([61.74.223.54].3525): Connection timed out
Jan 25 16:42:02 nsr16 named[22338]: stream_getlen([211.38.133.1].4562): Connection timed out
Jan 25 16:42:04 nsr16 named[22338]: stream_getlen([210.204.187.15].2309): Connection timed out
Jan 25 16:42:06 nsr16 named[22338]: stream_getlen([211.38.133.1].4776): Connection timed out
Jan 25 16:42:10 nsr16 named[22338]: stream_getlen([211.38.133.1].4800): Connection timed out
=====================================

What I want to know is following

- When is 'stream_getlen' function called?

- When and why the 'Connection timed out' occurs?

- Is there any time configuration to get the above 'Connection timed out'? When does the server get the 'Connection timed out' message after the connection established. (Getting the 'Connection timed out' message means it succeeded to connect but no response from the destination, am I correct?)

- Can you give me any example of the network situations which give this message?

Any answer will be appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.

Sincerely,

Jin
